Videogames, Virtual Self, and Gender Euphoria

Being comfortable in your own skin is one of humanity’s chief joys. Yet it’s a lifelong journey. Notably, the transgender community might not experience that same luxury the way cisgender people might. The videogame avatars we create to play as can help with that — community building, safe spaces, and the opportunity to explore the self and the potential self, through the virtual self. PhD candidate Michelle Cormier, as well as Associate Professor Phoebe Toups Dugas, who teaches human-centred computing at Monash University, were on Tuesday Drive to chat more.
