The Genevieves Talk New Single ‘Standing In Your Way’ & National Tour
Following their debut EP ‘Dog Dreams’, Kaurna/Adelaide alt-rock four-piece The Genevieves have graced us with a brand new single ‘Standing In Your Way’, a scorching garage noise rock track encapsulating the band’s DIY ethos and sonic influences like Osees and Smashing Pumpkins. Their new single, recorded and mixed by themselves, was captured in a remote farmhouse Airbnb in South Australia, where their debut EP was also tracked, and has become a staple sound of The Genevieves, with the nuanced room tones and reflections within the house shaping the sound of their work to date.
They have emerged out of the Kaurna/Adelaide local scene playing with the likes of Full Flower Moon Band, R.M.F.C. and dogworld and are currently in the midst of a national tour to celebrate the release, playing at Sneaky Possum in Chippendale tonight (Sep 27) alongside Liam Wheatley, Stirr and Charles Carnabuci. Tickets can be bought here.
Lara, James, Finn and Bailey joined Mitch Lumsden live on Reverie to chat about their new single, the origins of the band and their creative process in writing and recording.
You can catch The Genevieves live on tour on the following dates:
