NGO coalitions call for action on Australian human rights ahead of UN review

Australia’s human rights record is ‘backsliding,’ – that’s according to a report by a coalition of over 100 NGOs including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, refugee, LGBTQIA+ and disability groups.
The report identifies what it refers to as ‘critical failings’ in First Nations injustice, renewing calls for a federal human rights act, and a commitment to raising the age of criminal responsibility. The report was released before a major UN human rights review.
