A quiet epidemic is occurring within the veterinarian industry. Australian vets are twice as likely to commit suicide, however there is no national data to prove it. 

A new study from Griffith University on the Gold Coast sets out to probe this epidemic, aiming to uncover numerous thoughts and experience of suicide from veterinarians of all levels across the country. 

The key aim of the study and data collection is better inform the industry is adapting better suicide-prevention strategies in the workplace, as well as looks for new ways to generate workplace culture and morale.

There is also the hope of raising greater awareness of the situation that many veterinarians across Australia face. Through hearing their stories, there can be a greater platform for change in how we treat suicide and reducing the number of suicides per year.
