Making craybies with Operation Crayweed

Sydney’s metropolitan coastal waters were once teeming with underwater forests.

However, the crayweed that made up these forests completely disappeared from 70km of Sydney’s coastline due to sewage pumped straight into the ocean. Today Operation Crayweed is solving this problem by replanting crayweed vital to our marine ecosystem.

Dr Claudia Santori joined the Breakfast show to talk about how they are achieving this and supporting crayweed populations to become resilient and continue to grow their populations with craybies of their own.
