Maggie Carty’s Australian Tour for debut album Ebb and Flow

Drawing on her family lineage and musical upbringing, Irish-born and Melbourne based musician Maggie Carty’s debut album Ebb and Flow celebrates the creative tradition of Irish storytelling with a contemporary perspective.

Ebb and Flow is a deeply personal musical journey shaped by the currents of emigration, heritage, longing, and transformation. The album title reflects the rhythms of Maggie’s family’s journey, waves of movement between Ireland and Australia, and the ongoing dance between homeland and new horizons. Her playing is not confined by strict patterns but moves with a natural pulse and flexibility, breathing new life into Irish traditional music through fresh arrangements and influences from Americana, Australian folk, and beyond.

In 2017 Carty was a musician in residence at the Gaelic Club in Surry hills. She returns to play her Sydney show at this beloved venue on 30th August. Her music is energetic and heartfelt and makes for an incredible live experience. Don’t miss it!

Carty joined the Monday Daily to talk about her album and musical journey.

Catch Maggie Carty at the Gaelic Club on Saturday 30th August. Tickets here.
