Local Artist Spotlight – The After Thoughts
The After Thoughts
Meet The After Thoughts – a four-piece indie rock band from Sydney/Eora’s Inner West and the 2024 winners of USYD’s Battle of the Bands.
Drawing from jazz, rock, country singing, trombone practice, and a deep resonance with the women who have come before, The After Thoughts blend punchy instrumentation with distinct vocal harmonies and vibrant melodies to create their signature sound.
Their first single Horses and Courtney, released June 2025, pays homage to the female artists that inspire lyricist, guitarist, and lead singer Ruby, with particular emphasis on Patti Smith and Courtney Barnett, for whom the song was named.
Stream their new single Underground, dropping December 13th, or see The After Thoughts live at the Trocadero Room on Saturday December 13th from 7pm for their single launch party.
Guitarists/vocalists Ruby and Alfie talked all things band lore, competition wins, and Ruby’s unique performance resume with Charlotte Dunn and Momo Staines!
