Julia plays at the IPAC Theatre Wollongong

Some people say that politics and entertainment don’t mix. The production, JULIA at the IPAC in Wollongong could be an exception.

The theatre production Julia is about someone named Julia Gillard, you might know her.

It steps into the shoes of Australia’s first, and only, female prime minister, and even if you didn’t vote for Julia Gillard, you’ll still find this entertaining. Julia is a compelling insight into the person behind the mask and a reflection on the experience of women in contemporary politics.

Presented by Merrigong Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company and Canberra Theatre Company, Julia plays at the IPAC theatre stage in Wollongong from the 3rd -13th September 2025 – fitting because Julia Gillard is Australia’s 13th Prime Minister.

Julia’s playwright, Joanna Murray Smith joined 2SER Breakfast for a chat with Danny Chifley.

Julia plays at the IPAC Theatre 3-13 September 2025.
