The musical collective known as Antibalas was conceived of by Martín Perna in Mexico City and formed in Brooklyn New York by in the fall of 1997.

The story of Antibalas continues, back again with their tenth studio album Hourglass, your feature album this week on 2SER.

This record sees them return to their instrumental roots, an intentional shift away from the direct, politically conscious lyrics of their recent work and instead speak through melody and rhythm, seeing it as a more effective way to convey the emotions in the album as well as making it more universally accessible.
