First kids album in Arrernte language to be released

2SER’s Felix Shannon spoke to Carol Turner and Milyaka Scales, two of the creatives behind a new children’s album sung in Arrernte, Ampe-mape Alyelheme. The album remixes popular children’s songs like ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ as well as original songs.

Local creatives and educators from Children’s Ground in Central Australia collaborated with Harry Angus, former vocalist for The Cat Empire. They’ve also gained support from Emma Memma and The Wiggles.

The album will be released internationally on Friday, 18 August.
