FEATURE ALBUM
Long March Through the Jazz Age by The Saints
The Feature Album this week on 2SER is Long March Through the Jazz Age by The Saints.
The last recorded work by Chris Bailey sees the pioneering Australian group ruminate on time and impermanence, signing off on five decades of defying the rules.
Long March through the Jazz Age was pieced together from Bailey’s immense collection of demos and recorded and engineered by Sean Carey at Church St Studios in Sydney and features previous Saints drummer Pete Wilkinson, You Am I guitarist Davey Lane and a string, key and horn ensemble chosen from up and coming Sydney musicians.
Timed to release on what would have been Bailey’s sixty-ninth birthday, it’s an achingly beautiful and poignant final chapter from a truly great songwriter and artist.
Long March Through the Jazz Age is out now on (blue) vinyl, cd and digital via Fire Records.
