Michelle Law’s smart and sassy comedy is about a family of Chinese women living in the Sunshine Coast suburbs, makes its Sydney debut. It focuses on recently-divorced mother Pearl who is running the local Chinese restaurant called The Golden Phoenix; her eldest daughter Zoe in the throes of online dating, making big life decisions; and teenager Mei grappling with her identity in modern Australia. Pearl is the classic (hilarious) onslaught of embarrassing observations, constantly questioning her Westernised children.
