In 2011, I was doing my first or second ever graveyard shift at 2SER, Not being keyed into what Australian music (or Sydney music) was at the time, I just played stuff from my own collection, which would of been: Portishead, Bjork, David Bowie, Kyuss, Mr. Bungle, Nine Inch Nails, Lightning Bolt, Devin Townsend, The Mars Volta, Rob Zombie, Melvins.. and who knows what else.

I had never really experienced a community like what 2SER was. The staff and other volunteers around where incredibly lovely and guiding, no doubt helping me to get to where I am today.

Most importantly though was the music. I had no idea what was happening in Sydney, let alone the rest of the country. It was eye-opening, exhilarating and I found it tapped into an adrenline I didn’t know I had. After some time on Dailys and Drivetime shows, I was asked to take on The Band Next Door on 2SER and I haven’t looked back since. Fast forward over a decade and it’s still a huge passion of mine. To find these people making these authentic and creative sounds from their own drive and determination.

Long story short – the first week of July marks my first TBND broadcast from all those years ago (2013 I think it was) so tonight I’m revelling in favourites from 2025 so far.
