On Wednesday 6th August, the Art Gallery of NSW’s ‘Art after hours’ event is celebrating national poetry month with an exciting performance by Australian poets, musicians and artists. This performance is titled Ekphrastic fantastic and is facilitated by Red Room Poetry and hosted by multi-disciplinary artist Nicole Smede.

The event will feature the premiere of two new ekphrastic commissions by acclaimed author and musician Nardi Simpson and award-winning poet Eunice Andrada, who will both perform their pieces live in front of the artworks they have chosen from the AGNSW collection.

Expect to also see performances by Barrina South, Ali Jane Smith, Omar Sakr, Safdar Ahmed, Richard Tipping, Claudia Nicolson and Salote Tawale.
