Dangerously Modern: Australian Women Artists in Europe 1890-1940
During 1890 to 1940, the first wave of women artists broke all gendered expectations and left for Europe to study, create and share art during a period of immense societal and technological shifts. A new art exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales uncovers the art and stories of these women in “Dangerously Modern: Australian Women Artists in Europe 1890-1940”. The gallery director of collections and exhibition curator Wayne Tunnicliffes spoke with Eleanor Godley all about the exhibition and art history.
