The NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (or BOCSAR) has released its latest data on the number of people in custody for the quarter up to the end of June. It shows a sharp increase in the number of children being locked up.

This follows the recent extension of harsh bail laws by the NSW Government.

First Nations organisations and legal experts say the stats are a wake up call for the NSW Government, showing its law-and-order approach is failing to prevent crime or help kids and communities.
