Community and connection with the School of Zines

The School of Zines, founded by Aphrodite D, runs monthly zine* workshops that welcome everyone with any level of ability. Aphrodite chatted to Monday Daily’s Lorna about the two upcoming events running in conjunction with Sydney Fringe Festival: the Parramatta Zine Fair and September’s workshop that will be co-facilitated by guests Ela Pinar – 2024 National Youth Poetry Slam Champ and author of It’s A Sign, Vivian Pham – Vietnamese novelist, screenwriter, playwright, essayist, poet, and author of The Coconut Children and Bilal Hafda – Founder & Director of Guest House Publishing, and Artistic Director of Bankstown Poetry Slam.
The Parramatta zine fair is on 20th September at ACE, Parramatta.
Get tickets for the September workshop here on the 14th September.
*A zine is an independently distributed physical book, booklet or publication. Usually when buying a zine, it is straight from the artist or writer who made it and so it’s a way of directly connecting with an audience.
