The last time Jessica Pratt was in Australia, she, in her own words:

Glimpsed kangaroos bounding across a distant field, through the sherbet rays of sunset, as green parrots swooped through the air like birthday streamers. 

Ten years, three albums and one A$AP Rocky collaboration later, she returns to the distant fields of Australia on the back of last year’s Here in the Pitch, an album which the writer of this synopsis and conductor of this interview (me, Josh Ray) has listened to endlessly since its release. Tickets are still available for her show for Vivid at the Opera House on Wednesday 28 May.

Josh had the chance to chat with Jessica for Newfangled and used it as an opportunity to ask her about the influences behind the sound of her latest album, her favourite new music of the moment, and her which Australian birds she is most looking forward to seeing.
