A Morning with Mourning [A] BLKstar

Coming straight out of Cleveland, Ohio, Mourning [A] BLKstar are purveyors of hard-hitting soul music and Afrofuturist funk, which moves between loose-grooved 70s styles and contemporary jazz-inflected arrangements.

Multi-generational, gender, genre non-conforming amalgam of Black culture, Mourning [A] BLKstar, is dedicated to sharing stories and songs of America’s unfolding apocalypse.

Following their masterful 2020 double LP The Cycle, which showcased a bold, skittering hip-hop take on gospel music, and 2024’s emphatic blues-rock tape Ancient//Future, the collective returns with Flowers for the Living.

It was the honour and pleasure for 2SER Breakfast to welcome Mourning [A] BLKstar to the show.
