A Film from the Faroe Islands

A new film set in the Faroe Islands explores the struggle to maintain a traditional connection with land and culture in an environment where economic conditions are driving people to leave for the mainland of Denmark.
In The Last Paradise on Earth, we encounter Kari who is left with the difficult choice of finding a new job after the fish factory collapses while also caring for his sister.
Stephen Hill talked to the film’s director Sakaris Stora about his story that focuses on a character who wants to remain in his small island environment but finds this aspiration becoming increasingly harder.
The Last Paradise on Earth is premiering at the Scandinavian Film Festival at Palace Cinemas until August 10.
