2ser 40th Birthday: Ian Rogerson and Jon Vidler

“The great thing about it (2SER) was that it was is such a sandpit for knuckle-heads like us- you go in, you experiment, you have fun.”

“And also the eclecticism of the broadcasting, we came on after the Croatian show on a Friday night and there were so many different types of  programming that all happened at the one station, and that was really interesting.” – Ian Rogerson

2SER broadcasting legends Ian Rogerson and Jon Vidler were there at the very start of the station’s broadcasting history in 1979. They presented ‘The Aus Rock Show’, a late-night magazine show that championed  Australian music. The pair went on to work at triple j and a number of other stations including community and commercial broadcast.

Ian and Jon joined Alex James in the studio for a chat about 2ser’s 40th birthday, their long-time friendship, mid-dawn shifts and the excellence of Australian music.
