Victim Survivors Of Crime Legislation

The New South Wales Government recently passed legislation to create a new independent advocate for victim survivors of crime.

It’s hoped that the Independent Victims Commissioner, in conjunction with the Victims Advisory Committee, will champion victims of crime in their pursuit of justice, as well as positively shape policy that affects them.

2SER’s Cody Giunta spoke with Professor Tyrone Kirchengast, a Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Sydney Law School, about the changes to victims of crime legislation, and their potential impact for future victim survivor advocacy.
