Lead Found in Protein Powders
A US-based organisation, “Consumer Reports” has found high levels of lead in many common protein supplements. The amount has increased since their last investigation in 2010, and in some cases has overshot their own recommended safe daily intake by a factor of 10. With many people taking protein supplements daily, this could be an issue we haven’t quite seen the extent of just yet. Dr. Evangeline Mantzioris, Program Director for the Bachelor of Nutrition & Food Sciences at the University of South Australia, and Accredited Practicing Dietitian and Sports Dietitian, joins us for an expert’s insight into the situation.
