Marine landscape reviving after Tonga’s 2022 Hunga Volcano eruption
The most powerful eruption on the planet in over 100 years devastated the surrounding seascape, when the undersea Hunga Volcano dumped ash across the sea floor in 2022.
Scientists have been studying the area to understand what caused it, how the area is regenerating, and the impact on marine life and local communities.
Associate Professor Rebecca Carey is volcanologist at the University of Tasmania, and leader of a multi-national science team that’s been investigating the aftermath of the eruption. She joined us on the Thursday Daily to chat with Cameron Furlong about their latest findings.
