Daytime raves and dual identities: Daytime Deewane at Riverside Theatre
Take a trip back to London’s late-’90s daytime rave scene with Daytime Deewane at Riverside’s National Theatre of Parramatta.
Daytime Deewane, written by Azan Ahmed and directed by Sepy Baghaei, explores questions of British-South Asian identity, expectation and rebellion against the backdrop of the burgeoning daytime rave scene of 1997 London. Cousins Farhan (Ariyan Sharma) and Sadiq (Ashan Kumar) grapple with the tensions between family, heritage, and British society over a single afternoon.
If dancing through the night and day sounds like your kind of fun, this is the play for you!
Daytime Deewane runs between 16-25 October at Parramatta’s Riverside National Theatre, with tickets available here.
Actor Ashan Kumar speaks to Monday Daily host Eva Greifeneder on 2SER
