Wayne’s 4X2 — 9 October 2025: The Smashing Machine, Geese and More!

Film: The Smashing Machine
The Smashing Machine (2025) is the newest film from Benny Safdie. This is his debut solo feature film after splitting from working with his brother, Josh. In this film, we are taken back to the 1990s on a biographical journey of MMA fighter Mark Kerr’s, played by Dwayne Johnson, challenging rise to fame. It had its first screening at the Venice International Film Festival and received positive reviews by the critics.

Television: One Hundred Years of Solitude (Cien años de soledad)
This Columbian TV series has been adapted from the 1967 book of the same name by García Márquez. It follows the Buendía family across generations grapple with the same timeless challenges of relationships, ambiguity, and their fate or free will. One Hundred Years of Solitude season one has eight episodes, where a second season is in the works.

Televsion: The Four Seasons
The Four Seasons is a dramedy about how the divorce of one of three long-time couples impacts the relationships and dynamics of the group. Adapted from the 1981 film by Alan Alda, this version stars Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo, and Marco Calvani as the main cast. This eight-episode season is an easy weekend watch and has been renewed by Netflix for a second season.

Album: Getting Killed – Geese
Brooklyn-based four-piece band, Geese, are back with another outstanding album! This band consists of Cameron Winter as the frontman, Emily Green on guitar, Dominic DiGesu on bass, and Max Bassin on drums. Getting Killed is a dynamic indie-rock record with no weak songs. Stacked full of exciting tracks and solid ballads, it oozes swagger and energy. Catch Geese at Laneway Festival February 8th 2026 at Sydney AND Cameron Winter solo at the Opera House February 16th 2026.
