FEATURE ALBUM
In the Red by The Prize
The Feature Album this week on 2SER is In the Red, the debut album from Naarm power-punk firebrands The Prize.
Despite this being their first full-length studio release, The Prize have long been a revered live group for their live shows around the country and already have a number of European tours and major support slots (such as with King Gizzard) under their expanding belts. In The Red exemplified the best of d.i.y punk and garage, all funnelled through a blender of influences including Thin Lizzy and The Ramones. Guitar-soaked melodies and harmonised vocals (shared between drummer Nadine Muller and guitarist Carey Patterson) are driven by a pummelling rhythm section. Recorded in split sessions between A Secret Location studio and Gizz Studios it’s an absolute tearaway of a debut that needs to be played loud. Highly Recommended!
In the Red is out now via Goner Records (International) and Antifade (AU) on digital and Opaque Bone-coloured vinyl
