Where to watch Sydney’s secret short films

Kino Sydney is hosting their regular short film open mic night this Wednesday. Whether you’re an amateur filmmaker or a seasoned professional, you can screen a short film for all attendees.
This Wednesday, Kino Sydney is hosting their monthly short-film screening at the Petersham Bowling Club. The screening night offers an unexpected range of films from diverse filmmakers. The event is non-competitive and encourages film-makers to celebrate each other’s feats. Kino Sydney also invites those in the film industry to build community and enjoy the night.
In addition to Kino Sydney’s monthly short-film screenings in Petersham, there are also regular screenings in Western Sydney. The Parramatta-based event offers a similar atmosphere to Petersham. Both events encourage anyone to submit their short films. You can submit your shorts up until the night before the screening.
Coming up, Kino Sydney is also hosting Kino Kabaret – a 48-hour film challenge. The annual event will enable you to enjoy 48 hours of filmmaking. On September 12th, filmmakers are invited to pitch ideas, network and form film production teams. The opportunity allows filmmakers to create films, build their portfolios and meet like-minded individuals. On September 17th, the red carpet will be rolled out for a glamorous screening. There will be live music, trivia and prizes for the best-dressed.
Monday Daily co-host Will Prott spoke with Kino Sydney director, Christina Mishell, to learn more about their short film screening event.
Tickets for the Wednesday short film screening at the Petersham Bowlo are available on the Kino Sydney website. You can also find out more info for Kino Cabaret on their website.
