An Omega Ensemble live production: “Elevator Music”

When you imagine yourself in an elevator, you might think of an awkward encounter with a stranger, but that gentle sound filling the space is surprisingly soothing and welcoming…

Omega Ensemble‘s Artistic Director, David Rowden, is transforming this everyday experience into an engaging live performance: Elevator Music.

Known for his expressive style and technical skill, Rowden will perform in Melbourne, Sydney, and Newcastle alongside internationally acclaimed British clarinetist Michael Collins.

Elevator Music’s program includes Copland’s legendary Clarinet Concerto, Anna Clyne’s modern Stride, and the premiere of a new composition by Australian composer Graeme Koehne, creating a striking showcase of contemporary classics in elevator music that highlights the beautiful clarinet.

Eva Greifeneder, host of Monday Daily on 2SER, spoke with David about the upcoming performances, including this Saturday at Elisabeth Murdoch Hall in Melbourne, followed by shows at City Recital Hall in Sydney and Newcastle City Hall next week.
