NT Energy System Letting Down First Nations Families

In the Northern Territory, many First Nations people are on pre-paid energy arrangements, which are more likely to be disconnected.

But government agencies and energy providers aren’t required to gather and publish data on disconnections of people on prepaid energy, who are mostly First Nations people living in remote communities.

The Justice & Equity Centre have joined a group of First Nations organisations, energy advocates and civil society groups in the First Nations Clean Energy Network are calling for changes to help prevent disconnections and keep people safer.
