“Head South”: Jonathan Ogilvie’s New Post-Punk Coming-of-Age

Kiwi / Aussie director and screenwriter Jonathan Ogilvie has made a name for himself with films such as 2021’s Lone Wolf starring Hugo Weaving, 2008s the Tender Hook and Emulsion from 2006. His latest film, the post-punk coming of age Head South is hitting cinemas on the 3rd of April. The film features Aussie actor Ed Oxenbould and New Zealand singer BENEE in her acting debut. Friday Daily host Eleanor Godley was joined by the film’s director, Jonathan Ogilvie to talk about the film.

Jonathan also stopped by for the second hour of Heavy Demo to discuss some of his previous work, specifically as a music video director in the 90s making iconic videos for groups like Headless Chickens and Straightjacked Fits.

Resident breakfast movie reviewer Michael Jones gave the film a great wrap this week as well.

Head South is screening now at Dendy Newtown.
