The Artistic Utopia of Fabiola

Fabiola is a hybrid pop quartet from Brussels, combining melodic talent and pop immediacy, all crowned with a cerebral, sometimes quasi-mystical psychedelia.

Their latest album is The Mushroom Type, an album title that of course refers to the fruit of mycelium, a fitting image for an album rich in luxuriant sound worlds.

This collage of 90’s hip hop bass, vivid drums, ominous synths, field recordings and no-wave guitar wholly demonstrates that Fabiola’s style of pop smiles, even if it is missing a few teeth.

Fabrice Detry from Fabiola joined 2SER Breakfast to discuss casting off the moorings of careerism to get on the little bike that rolls around in your head (trust us, it makes sense once you know Fabrice).
