Checking In to the Suite Sounds of Hotel

Hotel is the solo stage moniker of one Andy Tudehope, whose first calling card on his Spotify bio is “semi-professional sunbather” — a truly vintage Sydneysider vocation. The title track off Andy’s EP Casa del Disco has been in rotation at 2SER since its release in September, and is a little taste of what to expect this Friday 3 November, when the full-length Hotel record Call of the Void is released. It’s a neo-nostalgic blend of groovy electronic funk, tasty drum samples, and post-punky vocals that has echoes of David Bowie meets Depeche Mode, with a healthy seasoning of LCD Soundsystem. Andy joined Jono Chang on Tuesday Drive to chat about the album’s release, his many (much longer) stage names, and whether or not owls are the octopi of birds? Listen back to the conversation for context on that last one!

Call of the Void is out 3 November, wherever you stream music.
