How AI Is Helping Aussies Avoid Automation

The average Australian will change careers 5-7 times during the span of their lifetime. However, in the face of COVID-19, ‘non-essential’ workers are being forced to turn to different occupations in order to survive the pandemic. These career changes aren’t always a smooth transition. The skills an individual may have needed for their previous job may not always match the skills required for a new career.
To help make these transitions easier, researchers have developed a system that allows artificial intelligence to recommend career transitions that are likely to best succeed. Lecturer in Computer Science and leader of the Behavioral Data Science group at UTS, Marian-Andrei Rizoiu, joined the Thursday Daily to discuss the system.
