Sadiva is a Naarm-based beatmaker who has been releasing albums since the mid 2010’s, crafting her own unique sound of crisply produced beats and melodies. This sound is further built upon in her latest album, ‘As Prescribed’, seeing her flipping samples and sequencing hardware synths to craft warm, groovy instrumental soundscapes. As well as her own work as a DJ and producer, Sadiva also founded Women of the World (WOW), the first-ever all-women’s beat tape series, helping address the lack of representation for female beatmakers.

Catch Sadiva performing live later this month at the BATTLE of The Beats (presented by 2SER and Beatheads) at the Factory Theatre on November 30. 1-6pm, be there or be square!

The Maple Trail is a solo recording alias of Sydney-based multi-instrumentalist Aidan Roberts, beginning in the early 2000’s in the Blue Mountains.  Since its beginning The Maple Trail has released two albums: 2008’s Dirty Echo Spark and 2012’s Mount Cable Warning, with Sundial being the newest addition to their catalogue of music. The Maple Trail’s sound evolved into a textured fusion of folk, ambient pop, and experimental tones with Sundial forming a sound of nostalgic, cinematic rock and dream pop, including the use of field recordings, VHS snippets and taking inspiration from 80s ambient and sci-fi soundtracks. In comparison to the alternative folk leanings of his first two albums, Sundial takes a more consciously synthesised direction and a sound that is shaped with modular gear interweaved with acoustics. This is the final release for The Maple Trail as Roberts is ending the project with this release, but it’s an incredible farewell to a cult-loved project. Out now on Broken Stone!

Ex Generation is a musical dream-team made up of Australian musicians Ziggy Zeigeist and Lewis Moody (30/70, Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, Sonic Interventions et al). The project is based on recording  collaboratively with music communities in different parts of the world. On The Mumbai Exchange, Ex Generation set out putting together an A-team of studio musicians versed in both Indian classical traditions and modern western influences . The Mumbai Exchange was recorded at Island City Studios in Khar West, Mumbai, and features collaborations with Mumbai-based artists including vocalist Vinyay Sugath Ramadasn and Anuja Zokarkar and many more. This is a fusion of traditional Indian music and North-Indian classical poetry with modern forms including house, disco, New Age and jazz-funk. A real gem of a record that is bursting at the seams with colour and rhythm, sounding like a holy grail of 80s Bollywood. Check out the killer hindi cover of Sister Sledge to that closes it out.
