2025 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize
What do resin, paper, wood, ceramic, glass, neon and matchboxes have in common? They all feature in this year’s Small Sculpture Prize at Woollahra Gallery.
Monday Daily host Eva Greifeneder spoke to gallery director Sep Pourbozorgi about the exhibition of 54 finalists and the top prize winner Virginia Leonard.
This prize continues to grow in acclaim with 750 entries this year and is one of the few Australian prizes to judge blindly, offering emerging and mid-career artists equal opportunity to be selected.
Established in 2001 as Australia’s first national acquisitive prize for original sculptures up to 80cm in any dimension, this esteemed competition continues to champion creativity and innovation.
Now in its 24th year, the Prize continues to highlight the dynamic and diverse creativity that defines contemporary sculpture. The selected works reflect the innovation and depth of the medium, spanning a variety of materials, forms, and themes.
The exhibition runs until November 16th with a talk by the winning artist of the Small Sculpture Prize on the 8th November.
