2 in 5 Young People Are Struggling with Loneliness

A recent report found that 43% of Australians between 15-25 are experiencing loneliness.

Due to a multitude of factors, the most recent generation of young people is experiencing more loneliness and social isolation than ever before. The recent report published by Ending Loneliness Together cited reasons such as stress due to inaccessible housing, employment, as well as fewer community spaces and opportunities for socialising outside of school, university and work.

Tuesday Drive spoke with Ben Smith, a professor of Public Health and Prevention at USYD and board member of Ending Loneliness Together, about the report and what can be done to help young people who feel lonely.
